Established 1859
Denton Brass
Guestbook
Denton Brass was re-formed in March 1999. The predecessor of the band was   Crown point Brass which itself was a spin off from Denton (Original) Band, which was formed in 1859.
Since then, due to the hard work and dedication of the Players, Musical Directors, Committee and the Band’s  late Chairman, Mr Peter Gee, over the last nine years Denton Brass has grown from just a handful of players to the band it is today, there are now only a couple of vacancies within the band.
The Band took part in their first contest in March 2004 and continued contesting throughout 2005. In March of 2006 the band took part in their first area contest at Blackpool, the band continued contesting , however missing the areas in 2007. The band has had mixed results with some very good placings, 6th and 5th at Pontins in 2007 & 2008 respectively, 2nd place at Fleetwood in 2007  a good 4th place at Buxton this year 2009.
Rehearsals take place Monday  and Thursday from 7:20 to 9:15 p.m. At the Festival Hall Denton (Above Denton Library) just 2 minutes from junction 1A of the M67 Motorway. The band also hold a junior / Learners session each Tuesday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. At the Festival Hall Denton

The band have enjoyed taking part in Whit Friday and other Local Contests where in previous years, despite not having a full Band they have done very well against other local bands, winning the Deportment prize at Millbrook in 2002. In 2003 the band won Deportment again this time at Carrbrook, and more importantly won the fourth section prize at Droylesden. In 2005  the band again won a Deportment prize this time at the venue which is closest to our hearts Denton Cricket Club. This year 2009 the band ventured into Saddleworth and won 4th section at Greenfield.
