We are a 4th section brass band located approximately 15 minutes southeast of Manchester city centre, in the town of Denton, in the Metropolitan Borough of Tameside. We are a non-profit making organisation, providing music to the community. In 2009 the band celebrated its 150th anniversary, having been originally founded in 1859.
In addition to performing a number of concerts and marches in the Tameside area, the band competes in a number of contests each year. These include the North West Area Championships, the Pontins contest, the Fleetwood contest, the Buxton Festival contest and, of course, the famous Whit Friday contests around Tameside and Saddleworth, the greatest free show in the country.
We are a young, eager and friendly band. Players of all levels are always welcome. The senior band rehearses in their new band room at Unit 7, Alpha Court, off Gorton Crescent, off Oldham Street, Denton. M34 3RB every Monday and Thursday night between 7:30 and 9:30 PM. The training band rehearse on Tuesday nights in the new band room between 7:00 and 8:15 PM.
The band is a member of North West Area Brass Band Association, North West Counties Brass Band Association and the British Federation of Brass Bands.
